2019 NFL Combine in Indianapolis

Coming second to the actual NFL Draft, the NFL Scouting Combine is the second biggest event during the draft season. The Combine is a way for teams to evaluate all the prospects coming into the league and give them a better sense of who to pick and when to pick them. As fans of the game and respective teams, it’s an event to see what players can be the future building blocks of those teams. This guide is designed to give the fans as much information as possible about the combine. Below are dates for each position group, as well as the participants in this years’ combine, organized based on position groups. Along with the position group are drills to watch for each position, as well as some players that can be affected by each drill. Obviously, each player wants to perform well in each drill, but this focuses on some players who can affect their stock by displaying their strengths or showing improvement on their weaknesses.

The 40-yard dash:

By far the most hyped up and entertaining part of the combine is the 40-yard dash. But the 40-yard dash as a whole isn’t as important for every position group. However, there are portions of the run itself that can indicate different traits. For instance, the first 10 yards of the 40, and how fast it’s run indicates explosiveness and acceleration. That is an important measure for every position group. The rest of the 40 yards is more important for skill positions, such as receivers or cornerbacks.
